WTF?
I go to a lot of shows. Sometimes 2-3 concerts in one night. Live music moves me. It inspires me. It energizes me. It connects us. I’ve traveled around the world, in search of the best live shows, and live in a city where secret shows and once-in-a-lifetime music experiences come around more than once-in-a-lifetime.
So this is where you’ll find my recaps of live performances. But don’t expect set lists. There are plenty of places that post set lists. You also won’t read about the lead singer’s new haircut nor controversial outfit. I’d rather focus on the performance and the experience. My goal is to make you feel like you were there if you weren’t there and to help you relive the experience if you were there.
What you will find are pictures, videos, some highlights, and other notes. For example, during the Nine Inch Nails “Wave Goodbye” tour, what were all those NIN fans doing with straw umbrellas? And what did they do to the “t-shirt douche”? Or you may find out what One eskimO and The Strokes have in common. I’ll tell you what Edward Sharpe said when the sound to the mics was turned off, and what will happen to you the first time you go see Portugal. The Man.
Some older stuff may get posted here because there’s a lot of it – U2 in Dublin, NIN performing during daylight in Santa Barbara, Ben Harper at small venues, Radiohead… they’re everywhere, Bonnaroo, Rothbury, SXSW, JazzFest, Outside Lands, Springsteen, White Stripes, Elliot Smith (RIP), and thousands of other live performances I’ve attended around the world.
Regardless of whether the older stuff resurfaces, I will write about – not every show I see – just those that are spectacular.
